Description:
Residence Services is hiring Academic Peer Mentors for the 2025/2026 academic year. Academic Peer Mentors will be paired with first year students in our residence buildings, to offer academic guidance and supportive listening. Peer Mentors will be expected to establish an ongoing mentorship relationship with their mentee, and meet with them monthly. Peer Mentors are expected to role model academic success and encourage the development of healthy academic skills. Peer Mentors will receive training on how to support with various concerns, such as selecting a specialty, course selection, navigating Bear Tracks, time management and career navigation.
Qualifications:
Applicants must be full time students at the University of Alberta for the 2025/2026 academic year, and maintain a 2.7 GPA during their volunteer term. To qualify, applicants must have achieved a minimum of a 2.7 GPA during the 2024/2025 academic year.

Training:
Peer Mentors will receive training at the beginning of September before beginning their role.

Peer Mentors will receive a certificate of academic mentorship for their time and volunteer hours.
