Description:

Are you interested in collective liberation and nurturing resilient and healthy inner city communities? The Capoeira Academy is looking for new board members and volunteers at large, including the following executive positions : vice president, treasurer and secretary. You do not need to be familiar with capoeira to join us in our mission! Our goals as an organization are to find creative ways to sustain capoeira in Edmonton while keeping it accessible and affordable, as well as use our studio space to host community partnerships, events and activities that align with capoeira's community values.

We currently operate out of a studio in Norwood and are looking for new board members to fill but we also welcome anyone who might be interested in volunteering any of the following skills: website design, accounting, photography, event planning, facility maintenance, grant writing, marketing, communications, social media expertise and more! Students are welcome!

Qualifications:

Treasurer - experience with bookkeeping and accounting is an asset
Secretary - experience taking minutes and file management is an asset
Vice-president - experience with community organizing, strategic planning, and group leadership is an asset
Volunteers at large - website design, accounting, photography, event planning, facility maintenance, grant writing, marketing, communications, social media expertise, graphic design, and more!

Training:

Bring any skills you have! If you want to gain experience this is a great opportunity. We will find ways to work with what you know already, as well as skill share and learn together!
