Description:
Do you possess a willingness to foster a creative musical outlet for adults? If so, we are looking for individuals or groups to instruct adults in the basics of how to read music, how to hold a tune, play various instruments available on site (eg. lessons in guitar, piano, drums).
Or perhaps you'd prefer to play for the musical enjoyment of the residents for weekly Chapel or other special programming? If so, this is the volunteer opportunity for you. Through the promotion of a positive well-being for the residents/program participants through music, your repertoire could include traditional hymns or familiar favorites to be played while our residents sing along.
Qualifications:
Familiarity with vulnerable populations is an asset(mental health, addictions, homelessness or geriatrics).
Patience and reliability a must.
Ability to play an instrument; comfortable playing/singing in front of a group.
Patient, positive disposition and a willingness to help others.
Good, clear communication skills.
Ability to initiate and maintain conversation while maintaining professional boundaries.
Vulnerable Sector Check may be required.
Training:
