Are you interested in driving positive environmental change and building new skills? Join our youth-focused environmental initiatives to stop the spread of invasive species and promote local biodiversity through Invasives Canada. This is an opportunity to engage with your community, gain practical skills from hands-on work experience, as well as advance your leadership skills.

Your role and responsibilities as a Youth Eco-Steward (YES) can be tailored to your unique interests where you can join our exploratory or career development stream. All we ask is you complete 120 service hours with us. The timeline for completing these hours is flexible, and most opportunities are asynchronous to fit into your schedule.

As a participant, you also have the option to design and lead your own project. The project scale and scope are flexible, and is something you can discuss with your regional coordinator after you've completed the on-boarding forms. Some examples include leading a BioBlitz, creating a social media account to share pictures and info with the public; monitoring the health of a watershed, or designing an activity booklet for children. Your opportunities are endless, and the YES team is able provide financial support to see your project come to life.

Qualifications:

Volunteer Position Requirements:
- Be under the age of 30 years old.

Preferred skills for this position:
- Some knowledge of ecosystems and/or invasives species management or willingness to learn
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Experience with field work and safety protocols is an asset
- Experience working with online communication tools and ability to work in a remote setting
- Experience participating in and/or coordinating community volunteer projects
- A positive and energetic attitude
- Leadership and self-motivation

Training:

Training will be provided by Youth Eco-Stewards.
