Why Represent?

Being a student representative is a unique and rewarding university experience. Being involved in University Governance in various capacities enables you to create change on campus that will affect you, your fellow students, and staff in influential and meaningful ways.

Below are the various positions which can be held by undergraduate students. Send an e-mail to governance@su.ualberta.ca for information on how to get involved with any of the following positions.

Students' Council Undergraduate Representative

Students' Council is the ultimate authority in the Students' Union. Undergraduate representatives advocate for students and help make positive change for their elected faculties.

General Faculties Council Undergraduate Representative

The General Faculties Council (GFC) is one of the main governing bodies of the University. Being a student in this body provides undergraduates with the ability to voice their concern about major issues affecting the University.

Senate Undergraduate Representative

The Senate is an independent body of diverse community leaders and University representatives, which is valued for the role it places in successfully examining, fostering, and celebrating the achievements and excellence of the University of Alberta, resulting in an enhanced relationship with the community.

Faculty Association Executive Positions

Faculty Associations (FA) are key student servants and representatives. They are a group of elected student volunteers who advocate on behalf of the students they represent, provide services, plan events and make sure that students have the best experience possible within their undergraduate program. There are various positions in each Executive Board of each Faculty Association that provide opportunities for these groups to achieve student interests and goals.
